You were under a sink. The phone rang. By the time you wiped your hands, they booked someone else — unless you texted first.

Why text beats “I’ll call later”

Local buyers often contact two or three shops in one sitting. A clear text that asks one question keeps you in the race even when you cannot talk yet.

The 60-second same-day reply

“Hi [Name] — [Business]. Just missed your call about [service]. What’s a good time for a quick callback today? Reply here or call [phone].”

Specific. Easy to answer from a job site. No essay.

Add a time window when you can

If you know your afternoon, offer it: “I can call between 2–4 if that works.” Choice reduces back-and-forth.

Track it or it didn’t happen

Columns in a free sheet: date, name, phone, service, day-0 text sent, status. Missed-call recovery is an ops habit, not a motivational poster.
